Babati Town council with an area of 460.86 km2 is at equidistant of about 168 km between Kondoa Town and Arusha and Singida Municipalities and about 650km from Mwanza and Dar Es Salaam Cities on 404’S and 35045’E and about 1347m above sea level. It is the business and Socio-economic activities centre for Babati District and the headquarters of Manyara Region. It has extended from slopes of Mount Kwaraa which is covered by the Ufyomi Forest Western wards. It was established in 2004 following the Government Notice Na. 352 on 17th day of September.
According to the 2022 Tanzania National Census, the population of Babati Urban District was 129,572.40 distributed in 8 wards of Babati,Bagara,Singe,Bonga, Maisaka ,Mutuka, Nangara and Sigino. .
As of March 2022, Service Coverage for Babati is at 92% of the whole Population (ie: 117,3744), this coverge is expected to reach 98% by 2025
